The Austrian schilling was Austria's official currency until 2002. It was introduced after the First World War, in 1924 to be precise, and replaced the previous currency, the crown. The schilling was divided into 100 groschen. It was a symbol of Austria's economic stability and prosperity, especially after the Second World War, when the country experienced an impressive economic recovery.
